The Rio Rojo Workhorse Kitchen Island

The kitchen is where the day starts and the night ends. The Rio Rojo Workhorse belongs in the middle of it.

Built from solid Mexican pine and finished in a hand-applied distressed red — barn deep, deliberately aged, the paint chipped and worn to let the warm pine bleed through — this kitchen island carries the same hand-craft tradition as every piece that leaves our Texas workshop. The body is Rio Rojo through and through. The top is left natural: wide-plank solid pine, knots and grain intact, thick enough to use as a real work surface for years without apology.

Storage is laid out the way a working kitchen actually uses it: two drawers up top with forged iron ring pulls for utensils and everyday essentials, a cabinet with an adjustable interior shelf on the lower right, and an open shelf on the lower left for cookware, baskets, or whatever the counter needs cleared for. Four substantial turned spindle legs ground the piece — dark stained, lathe-turned, and built to hold the weight of a kitchen that actually gets used.

This is not a decorative island. It is a workhorse — named honestly, built accordingly. Custom sizing, finish, and layout modifications are available on request. Built to order in our Texas workshop, not pulled from a container.
