The turquoise did not come from a factory. It came from a brush, applied by hand, then deliberately aged until the paint cracked and the pine bled through — warm amber beneath cool teal, the way an old mission wall looks after fifty years of sun. That finish is not a trend. It is a technique handed down through generations of Mexican craftsmen, and it cannot be replicated by a machine.
La Turquesa Armario is built from solid Mexican pine — heavy, rough-sawn, full of the knots and character that tell you this is real wood from a real tree. The crown carries a hand-carved acanthus scroll frieze in deep relief, the same motif mirrored on the base apron, paint pooling dark in the recesses the way it does on something genuinely old. Between them, four doors — two upper with glass pane inserts and vertical mullions that let light through and put what’s inside on display, two lower with raised solid panels for closed storage — all divided by a heavy forged iron strap band at mid-body.
The hardware is the other story. Hammered iron dome nail heads stud every door strap in dense clusters. Diamond-shaped iron brackets anchor the strap intersections. Iron ring pulls hang from each door — hand-forged, dark, substantial. This is not decorative ironwork. This is the kind of hardware that was designed to keep a cabinet standing for a century, and it will.
Use it as a display cabinet, a bar, a linen storage piece, a gun cabinet, a dining room hutch. The scale is commanding — tall enough to anchor a wall, wide enough to hold everything. La Turquesa Armario is built to order in our Texas workshop and arrives as a finished piece of history that happens to be brand new.
